Annual Report 2024-25
We are pleased to share Azad Foundation’s Annual Report 2024–25, which captures a year of women and girls from marginalised communities confidently asserting their rights at homes, communities, public spaces and workplaces, with men and boys standing beside them as allies in their journeys.
Azad believes that building a gender just society requires the active participation of all of us. This year, we continued to enable women to enter non-traditional livelihoods and nurture ecosystems where they can thrive, with supportive families and communities, transformative skill training and infrastructure and policies that increase and sustain their workforce participation.
532 women obtained their driving licences and 278 women joined the transport workforce, supported by 1,205 community change agents. 30 women riders joined Rapido as two-wheeler captains. This year, Azad conducted a study on the experiences of women bus drivers in DTC and audited 8 bus depots to assess gender inclusivity, underlining the need for inclusive infrastructure for women employees.
We invite you to read this report, narrated through the lens of Noor— a professional driver and a resilient woman who broke through deeply entrenched social and economic boundaries to reclaim her life, and encouraged other women to reclaim their rights and dignity too. Her journey mirrors the strength and determination of many women who walk with Azad.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our board, donors, partners, the communities we work with and our incredible team for their invaluable contribution in this journey…
