Onsite - Programme Implementer – Men for Gender Justice, Chennai
The PI– Men for Gender Justice will engage young boys in urban communities to promote gender equality. They will conduct capacity-building sessions, facilitate discussions on gender issues, identify young leaders, and ensure program implementation aligns with Azad Foundation’s objectives.

About Azad Foundation
Azad is a professional feminist organization working across social and religious divides to enable resource-poor women to empower themselves by engaging them in viable non-traditional livelihood options. Azad is committed to breaking patriarchal boundaries and structures so that women can exercise control over their lives and live with dignity. This is done through transformative capacity-building programs based on adult learning principles around the self and the skills needed for non-traditional livelihoods. Azad also engages with both men and women in their communities to create a safe and supportive space for development. The organization operates directly in Jaipur, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata and partners with other organizations in Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Mobilize and engage young men and adolescent boys in identified urban communities through regular outreach, group meetings, and community interactions.
- Facilitate structured fortnightly perspective building sessions on gender equality, patriarchy, masculinities, consent, prevention of violence, and respectful relationships using participatory methods and Azad’s curriculum.
- Plan and conduct community campaigns and events (including Pakhwada/fortnight activities) as per the programme calendar, ensuring quality delivery and documentation.
- Identify, mentor, and build capacities of selected young men and boys as community leaders and support formation/strengthening of men’s groups and peer educator networks.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders (community leaders, schools/colleges, clubs, NGOs and government functionaries) to enable referrals, participation, and community ownership.
- Support programme monitoring and evaluation: facilitate baseline/endline, action tracking tools, maintain participant data, and track outcomes/behaviour change indicators.
- Maintain accurate records and timely reporting (session plans, monthly progress reports) and contribute to donor/management reports.
- Collect and develop case studies, stories of change, and learning notes.
- Build synergies with Azad programmes (FLP, AK, WWW) to plan joint community activities and strengthen referral pathways for women, girls, and families.
- Support development and contextualization of IEC materials, facilitation aids, and community-facing communication products for programme implementation.
- Participate in team meetings, reflective learning spaces, trainings, and supervision; contribute to quarterly reviews and annual planning.
- Represent Azad Foundation in relevant district/state forums as required and ensure field activities are delivered in a timely.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Graduation/Post Graduation in any discipline, Social work/Social Science/gender studies/development studies will be an advantage
- 3-4 years’ experience in relevant field is required
- Computer Skills -Skilled in handling computer especially the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Language Proficiency – Proficiency in English, & Tamil – reading, writing and speaking.
